“The more things change, the more they stay the same.”
That was the advice I received from my mentor before embarking on my journey, one that would take me over 2,500 miles across the Pacific Ocean to start a new career and a new life.
What was I going to do? No idea.
I had no job prospects and very little money. No pressure.
I had 6 months to make it. No turning back.
I left my comfort zone in pursuit of (drumroll please) — a marketing J.O.B. … WTH?!!!
As hockey legend Wayne Gretzky famously said, “I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.” Leaving everything behind on a whim was out of character for me but necessary if I wanted to do what I loved.
Okay so enough fluffy stuff. Let’s fast forward… I landed a job in two months (in technology sales, not marketing), got married a year later, and became a father in what seemed like a blur.
While I managed to sneak a few marketing strategies into my sales role, it just wasn’t good enough for me.
Then yada, yada, yada, I left. I walked away from the corporate scene to strike out on my own.
Hello World!
The experience I gained in the tech world would help me launch my own local marketing agency, which morphed into a full-blown Amazon business, and now affiliate and Facebook marketing.
You could say I’ve done a lot of skating!
This is just the beginning as my story continues to be written. With all the bumps, twists, turns, and somersaults along the way, I remain humble and eternally grateful for the experiences that shape me.
My life has changed drastically over the years, but the one thing that remains the same is my passion for marketing and thirst for knowledge in this always-changing world.
It is my hope to share that with you.
